Okay.... you'll never guess what amazing thing just happened. Actually, scratch that, if you've read the title you might *face-palms.* I've been so tired lately, my brain hasn't been working. Anyway...
Something amazing just happened! (*winks*) I'm so excited to announce that the incredible Aqsa has nominated me for the Blogger Recognition Award. You should definitely check out her awesome website - if you've seen the fabulous guest posts she's been doing on my blog for A Week of Winter, you'll already know to love her! I just wanted to give a huge thank you thank you thank you to Aqsa for nominating me! *gives virtual hug*
The rules of The Blogger Recognition Award are:
Okay, let's get started!
I started my blog a grand total of (I'm gonna hit you with a really crazy number) three weeks ago! I know, I feel like such an old lady. I already write two other blogs, Kid Book Reviewer and Best Family Trips Ever, but lately I've started reading a lot of great DIY blogs and just really got into it. I decided I would start one, too, since Winter Break was coming up and I wanted a fun project to work on. I'm obviously still a very new blog, so I can't really rave about how much my blog has grown since day one (although I'm super proud of going from zero to hundreds of visitors in just one day), but I do know I've had so much fun and really enjoyed putting content on Your Rose Awaits.
My two cents of advice for new bloggers would be to grow your blog organically, and to just do what you love. The first, I learned while I was doing my Kid Book Reviewer blog. I had earned about $100 in free advertising from Google (after spending $50), and I wanted to try to use it to rapidly expand KBR. I'd already had KBR for a year and a half-ish, and it was killing me that my visitors weren't seeming to expand as quickly as I would've liked. I had a consistent number of pageviews, but that number had stayed sedintary for the past couple of months. My dad advised me to not use the advertising and to just grow my website organically, which basically means from scratch. I took his advice, and starting posting more regularly instead of spending my time trying to drive traffic to my site. Within days (I kid you not), I had at least double the amount of pageviews, was getting daily subscribers, along with business inquiries and tons of review requests. And my second bit of advice would be to do what you love. If you write from your heart and are true to what you love, people will find your blog. Just keep putting great content out there, and don't let anyone change your blog for the world. Also, and this might not pertain to a lot of bloggers, but for Kid Book Reviewer it does - sometimes you're judged more by what you say no to than by what you say yes to. As in, don't say yes to everything people say, because it might not benefit your blog as much as you want. It's totally fine to say no.
Sorry for that really long rant - once I get started I just can't seem to stop haha!
Alright, on to who I'd nominate (and I'm sorry if it's a little less than 15, I've only recently started discovering new blogs!)
Also, it's totally fine if any of you guys have already been nominated - you really don't have to do two posts.
